Sarah Suriel

My name is Sarah and I am enrolled in the MLIS program at Queens College. I am taking the 700 class The Information Technology. I work at the Clason's Point Library as an Information Assistant. I conduct children’s work and I have the opportunity to meet and collaborate with teachers and community leaders. I enjoy scheduling class visits with teachers so I can introduce students to the importance of getting a free library card to borrow books and enjoy all the privileges the library has to offer. Reading plays a vital role in my life, so I always encourage students to read every day. I also conduct reading programs at my branch for early learners. It is also important for parents to read a bedtime story to their children before they go to bed as it will help them tremendously later in life. I enjoy spending time with my family and my dog Prince. Summer is my favorite season because I do more outdoor activities.

Activities that I love to do are:

  • going to the beach
  • the pool
  • water parks
  • walking in my quiet neighborhood with my dog
  • hear the sound of the chirping birds
  • reading popular children's authors such as Mo Willens, James Dean, Barbara Park…
