Biography and Family Life
Melanie was born in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains in Upstate New York. She has a twin sister, and grew up with many cats and dogs. Her family is partial to miniature dachshunds, and like many people from her hometown, they seem to have an extreme loyalty to their dog breed of choice. In addition her family only had Siamese cats growing up.
Melanie moved to New York City with her twin sister, Melissa, to attend college at Pace University in lower Manhattan. At Pace, she met her partner Lauren. Melanie accidentally adopted a pregnant cat her senior year of college, and went from a one cat household to a three cat household overnight. When Melanie and her sister finally moved into separate apartments, Melanie took the mama cat and Melissa took the babies, who were no longer babies upon the separation. Everyone was relieved to finally have some room to breathe. Melanie now lives in Flatbush, Brooklyn with her partner, two cats, and lots of plants.
