Gillian Rothchild

Gillian Rothchild was born and raised in New York City. She earned an A.A.S in Veterinary Technology from LaGuardia Community College in 2007, a B.A. in Psychology from Hunter College in 2014, a Labor Studies Certificate from CUNY's Jospeh S. Murphy Institute of Worker Education and Labor Studies, and is currently enrolled in the library and information studies graduate program at Queens College. Gillian is obviously very dedicated to the CUNY system.

In her spare time (which is to say when she is neglecting another task), Gillian enjoys knitting, foraging (especially for mushrooms), creative problem solving, cooking, reading, spending time with friends and family, and chasing the little monster who lives in her home (a very active 17 month old girl), and maybe sneaking off for some quiet beer and book time once in a very great while.

Some cool mushrooms!

  • Chicken of the woods (Laetiporus sulphureus or Laetiporus cincinnatus)
  • Hen of the woods or Maitake (Grifola frondosa)
  • Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus)
  • Black Trumpet (Craterellus cornucopioides)
  • Giant Puffball (Calvatia gigantea)

One time I hung out with some elephants at an elephant sanctuary in Thailand. I love elephants and it was amazing. The elephants really only cared about us as long as we were feeding them watermelon and squash, but we got to bathe them in a river, and hang out with cats and dogs at the sanctuary and it made me super happy.
