Cindy Centanni

Cindy Centanni is currently a student at Queens College Graduate School of Library and Information Studies. After completing this summer session course #700 "The Technology of Information", Cindy will have completed 50% of the core courses required for this program.

Cindy has always had a great interest in and admiration for libraries and all the beneficial services they provide to their communities.

Bio

After working in other industries and contemplating what type of advanced degree to obtain, Cindy decided that this industry is where her true interests lie. As a Master of Library Science (MLS) degree is typically required for many library positions, Cindy decided to pursue this type of masters degree. She is currently undecided as to her final specialty within this field.

Not only would this type of career be personally satisfying to her, it would also allow Cindy to participate in the vital library programs and services that are so valuable to residents within a community.

Interests

Cindy has a variety of interests, and a few of the things she likes are the following:

  • The Summer season
  • Music
  • Cooking and/or baking

New Interest

Cindy is very passionate about a relatively new interest of hers, that of animal rights, with a particular emphasis on farmed animal rights.

Did you know that there are no federal laws governing the conditions in which farmed animals are raised? Want a few more facts? Learn more at "http://www.farmusa.org".

The Animal Rights National Conference is the largest & longest-running annual animal rights gathering. This year, this conference is being held now, 8/3-8/6/17, just outside of Washington, D.C. "http://www.arconference.org". Many well-known speakers are featured at this annual conference including Ingrid Newkirk - President & Co-Founder, PETA, Jane Velez-Mitchell - Founder, Jane UnChained, and Nathan Runkle - President, Mercy For Animals. Hopefully, C-SPAN will air some segments from the 2017 Animal Rights Conference as they did subsequent to the 2016 conference for those who are unable to attend in person.

Check out the websites mentioned above if you have a few minutes – you may learn something new and will definitely learn something important.

Group Project

For Queens College GSLIS class #700, Cindy participated in a group oral presentation with two other classmates, Patricia Reguyal and Mallory Weber.
