Hello! My name is Christine and I am an elementary school teacher. Throughout my life I have had a great curiosity and devotion to reading. My attraction to literacy propelled me to pursue my undergraduate degree in literature. From there I chose to continue my graduate studies within the field of elementary education. My goal was to share my interest in literacy with young students. While involved in my graduate studies I developed a passion for quality children's literature. I could immerse myself in stories as I knelt upon the thinly carpeted floors of my local library for hours reading books by authors such as Chris Van Allsburg, Tomie dePaola, Roald Dahl, and Margaret Wise Brown. Today I am a graduate student now seeking my Masters in Library and Information Science degree in order to become a certified library media specialist. I am excited to embark upon this path and discover new ways to help my students further develop their own interests in literacy.
Here are a few of my favorite children's books:
- Alexander and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
